It was a nice day, I guess you would say. The sun was shining brightly as ever, since the camp has magical weather. There was a slight breeze that made the heat more bearable. The wind also shook some leaves of trees in the camp valley.
Celeste Shadows shook her head slightly, and the leaf fell off of her head onto the ground. Her dark eyes were still fixed on the words on her book. It wasn't something you would expect from a demigod who was not a child of Athena, but she didn't care. She didn't care what anyone thought of her. They knew nothing.
Celeste was leaning against a tree, her back pressed against the trunk. She was reading "The Hunger Games". The book kind of reminded her of camp. How people killed each other were very similar.
Other demigods walked past her, chatting and laughing. They didn't notice her, and the ones who did pointedly ignored her. Celeste ignored them, too.

( I dunno why but EMmy keeps on logging in and then post once and log out... she does that like so many times) Kenneth walked along the clearing. He really didn't get why the clearing was there.... he was bored... real bored. He was talking to this kid named ____ (I cant think of a name..) After the kid left to the armory... Kenneth had nothing to do. (OUT OF IDEAS NOW) Kenneth saw a girl by a tree... she was reading. Ignoring everything around her... she was Celeste... Daughter of... Pluto... no... Hades. There was a small difference between those two. ANd the book.. what was it... The Hunger Games... Kenneth tried to focuse in on the words. He didn't have dylexia or ADHD.. just a hard time reading. Kenneth has read the book before.. it didn't make much sense. It was good, though he had started on "Mocking Jay" He was bored out of his mind now... so he walked over... not caring if the girl saw him or not and spoke up. "Good book?" (You were getting me irritated pleading for someone to post Jk)

"Good book?"
When Celeste first heard a boy's voice, she didn't look up, thinking that he must be talking to someone else nearby. After all, who would even think about talking to that 'crazy maniac'? The 'bad luck charm'? Celeste didn't really care about the rumors, though. She knew they weren't true. Some of them.
Then when there was only silence did Celeste look up. She was surprised to see Kenneth Lorway standing over her. Son of Poseidon. Ah, yes. Celeste remembered when he had arrived at camp. They had never talked much, though.
"Yes, it is," Celeste replied in her soft, silvery voice. She left out the fact that she had been re-reading it for the ninth time.

{True that, Kenneth. I do that a lot.}
Kali stopped by Kenneth and Celeste. Coincidence? Let's just say yes. She was arguing with an Ares camper, a rather new one. His name was Mark, and he was definitely irritated. "Why won't you fight me?" he whined. "I want to see if those rumors about you are true!" Kali froze. And heck, next to a person she somewhat new and Celeste. She knew Celeste's name, and that she was a child of Hades, but that was it. When Kali heard some rumors about her [by eavesdropping, of course. How else would she know? No one wanted to talk to her], she felt bad for her. She knew firsthand about rumors. Even though they were usually exaggerated or complete lies, there was usually a grain of truth in them. Kali cleared her throat.
"The...rumors?" she asked Mark. She was fighting the 'rumor' right now for control of herself. Mark didn't seem to notice. In fact, he looked happy, and nodded vigorously.
"Yeah, that you're posessed when you're in battle."" Kali was mortified. He had to say it now, of all times? In front of others? Mark was only twelve, and continued on blabbing. "I bet they're lies. Who can be posessed by a demon when they're fighting? Besides, isn't that a good thing? That would make people practically invulnerable!" His eyes were shining, almost as if he wished he were Kali. That just made Kali more and more horrified. He wished he were her? Was this kid crazy? Did he know the torture Kali went through, day to day, wishing she could blab about her curse even though that would just make it worse? It almost made Kali angry...almost enough for her to fight...Kali got control of her emotions just in time. Her eyes had been starting to turn a bloody red. Kali didn't want Kalika Moira to show...not now. Please, not now...

Celeste raised an eyebrow slightly as another girl came to stop by them, followed by an boy. The girl, she knew, was Kali. And as far as Celeste knew, Kali didn't have a last name. Daughter of Hecate. And from the times she had just watched other people in the arena, she had learned that Kali was a pretty decent witch. But, when she was sword-fighting and stuff...
Celeste knew that Kali barely did, but when the daughter of Hecate did, it was...interesting. It was like Kali was a different person. Celeste didn't understand how, or why. Kali was awfully good with close-ranged weapons, and she fought like a demon. No pun intended. So Celeste didn't know why Kali didn't more often. Wasn't it good, to be powerful?
But now, as she listened to their conversation-of course, Celeste had turned back to her book, pretending to be reading-Celeste realized that there was something more to the girl. More to just being a crazy-good fighter. Was it possible that Kali could actually be possessed by a demon? But...that was impossible...that was some serious god-level magic. A daughter of Hecate couldn't do that to herself, could she? Make herself better at fighting that way?
Even if Kali had, wouldn't that be super dangerous? Demons were not pleasant creatures, she knew from studying her dad. What if a demon took over of Kali's body? Then Kali would be going crazy all the time. And from what Celeste had observed, Kali was fine. Coincidentally, Celeste had never seen the times when Kali-or rather, Kalika-had killed someone.
Of course, Celeste had heard rumors about Kali going crazy or something and killing people, but the daughter of Hades had assumed that that was all they were: rumors. Celeste hated rumors. To her, rumors were the same as lies.

The little kid didn't stop babbling. Kali resisted the urge to throttle him in order to shut him up, to show that she could fight like a demon if needed. But she didn't want to. She couldn't. Not in front of everyone. That was why Kali spent most of her time either in her cabin, in the forest, or not even at camp. If Kali was ever missing for an extended period of time, and soon after, newspapers and tv crews reported 'strange, massive massacres'...expect that to be Kalika Moira.
"It would be so cool if I were invulnerable, like you in those rumors!" The poor kid had no idea what he was saying. He was much to enthuisiastic. Kali wanted to scream, "Stop it!" but that would be kind of strange in the given situation. "I'd be undefeatable!" Finally finished his rant, he grinned at Kali. His two front teeth were slightly crooked, and he had the goofy look of a son of Hermes. If Kali hadn't known better, she would've guessed his father to be the messenger god. Kali snapped back to reality, shaking her head in horror.
"No..." she mumbled. Her eyes were changing color, but not to red. Blue. Green. Yellow. Several other colors, flashing by quickly. Mark started pleading. Kali shook her head. Finally she snapped. Her eyes were black and purple when she opened them again. "No!" This time her voice rippled across, settling into Mark like a blanket. "You never talked to me." Kali didn't care that Kenneth and Celeste were watching now. She wanted Mark away. "You will leave now," Kali ordered.
{Wait, wait. Hold on. Before you ask, Emily, no I did not get this idea from the compulsion thing in Vampire Academy...in fact, I thought of this nearly two years ago...I'd never heard of Vampire Academy then...}
Mark's eyes had a blank look in them. He nodded obediently. "Sure," he mumbled, sounding slightly dazed. "Dunno what I was thinking." He walked away, leaving Kali to face Celeste and Kenneth.

Celeste froze as she finished turning a page, and quickly flashed a look at the situation, surprised to see Kali's eyes changing color. Luckily, Kali was probably too distracted by ordering Mark away that she didn't notice Celeste. Hopefully. It would be awkward to see someone staring at you after you've just bewitched a little kid. Celeste quickly looked back down at her book, then looked back up as Kali faced them, pretending to have only just noticed her walk up.
"Hello," Celeste said coolly, giving no sign that acknowledged that she had heard recent conversation.

{Hmm...I also realized something else. The original girl character that could use that power had brown hair and kaleidascope [sp?] eyes...remind you of any demigods...?}
Kali glanced at Celeste. She didn't need to be a mind reader to know that the daughter of Hades was faking just noticing her. After all, Mark had been babbling on and on for awhile, and it was kind of hard not to notice that Kali just bewitched some kid. She sighed and crossed her arms. Her eyes were cocoa brown again, not showing any signs of changing colour anytime soon. And hopefully they wouldn't, unless Kali needed to bewitch someone else into listening to her. The last thing she needed was Kalika Moira...and to prove the rumors correct.
"It is a beautiful day, isn't it?" Kali asked flatly, without any emotion showing in her voice. "Hello to you too." At least Mark was gone now..."I was just taking a walk. Didn't mean to disturb your reading. Hello, Kenneth." Kali desperately hoped that the son of Poseidon wouldn't mention anything about her breakdown earlier in the forest, of the fact that Kali tried to kill him. Great conversation stopper. "Hey, this girl tried to kill me earlier!" Hopefully that wouldn't happen.

{What original character? And yeah, Piper. LOL, great conversation stopper.}
"Kali, is it? Daughter of Hecate?" Celeste said, even though she already knew the answer. Celeste didn't want Kali to be freaked out in case she didn't know that Celeste already knew everyone's names. Celeste wasn't sure if Kali knew how long that she has been at camp. "I've never really talked to you before," Celeste noted.

{It was so long ago I can't remember her original name...but I changed it so many times...now it's Katie Louise Butler.}
Kali nodded. "Don't play dumb, Celeste," she suddenly said. The words just came tumbling out of her mouth, and Kali couldn't have made herself shut up if she wanted to. Which she was still debating at the moment. "I know you knew my name for awhile, and I knew yours. Celeste Shadows, Daughter of Hades. You've been at camp since you were born. A month after, to be exact." Kali wasn't sure where she was pulling this information from. She just knew. "Your mother died of lung cancer. The campers spread rumors about you, and you're generally unliked." Like me, Kali thought.
"I don't talk to a lot of people. People don't generally like me, either." Now Kali really wished she would shut up. She couldn't. Kalika Moira took control when she was in battle...but didn't talk much. Usually, 'you shall die' or some really sarcastic, witty comment about brutally slaughtering whoever her victim-to-be was. And the really scary thing was...Kalika knew more than Kali did herself. She didn't know if her curse secretly took adcantage of her mind-reading ability or anything, but apparently she knew it, somewhere in the back of her head...
"Campers think you're a bad luck omen. A demigod died escorting you and your mother to camp. You were made cabin leader when you were eight, being the only child of Hades after your older half-brother died on a quest. The camp raised you entirely, even though they don't like you. The rumors started when your mother died, saying that your darkness caused your mother to die. You just kept to the shadows, acting indifferent." Why couldn't Kali shut up?
"Don't be surprised. Don't act like you don't know things you do. On top of being a bad luck charm, campers will think you're an idiot if you don't know me. About twice as many rumors were spread about me than you." Kali finally clamped her hand over her mouth, not caring how stupid that made her look. Damn...

Kenneth made a mental note not to underestimate Kali. He spoke up, narrowing his eyes. "You seem to know alot, and rumors? No I haven't heard any.. not much..." Kenneth relaxed his eyes as he continued. "I haven't seen you before..." A lie.

Celeste was stunned. She felt like going crazy. How had Kali known all of that stuff about her? Celeste was trying hard not to burst out crying. No one had ever figured her out like that... She felt so vulnerable now. "How did you know?" Celeste whispered. Then her voice rose, and a defensive look came into her eyes. "How-how did you know all this?" Her hands balled into fists, and started trembling violently. "How did you know?" Celeste demanded.

Interesting question. How did Kali know? If she knew, then she would tell Celeste. The thing was, she didn't know how she knew all that about the daughter of Hades. And then she had to go and say it all with Kenneth standing right freaking next to her. Kali clutched at her head. All the thinking was hurting. She had no idea. She couldn't answer the question. Even if she did answer, her answer would make no sense whatsoever. Kali couldn't say anything...she would confuse Celeste more.
"I don't know," Kali finally said, rather bluntly at that. What would Celeste say? Look at her as if she were crazy and slowly back away? Kali would like for people know about her curse, but the thing was that the more people she told, the worse it got. And if she told both Kenneth and Celeste...Kali shivered. She'd told only one othe person in her life, and Kalika suddenly began to take form as long as there was some sort of life within a mile radius of her. If she told two people...
Kali didn't even want to think about it. What if she was lost forever, Kalika Moira taking over her completely? She didn't want to find out, so she didn't take the risk. Kali looked down, waiting for Celeste to respond. Or Kenneth. Whatever. "I don't know," she repeated, her voice getting slightly agitated now. Kali calmed herself down quickly again and took a deep breath. Control your emotions, she told herself. Kalika can't go on a rampage...in front of all these people... Kali shuddered. In public.
